Vanguard : Saga of Heroes is upon us in 2 months time . No , it will not demolish the Blizzard world of Noobastic craft . Hail ho all heroes to join up and venture into Telon . The game is well into Beta 5 and each patch is bringing the game closer to launch with better stability and playability .
If you are from the SG MMO scene , i will slowly bring you into the many factors to play VG:SOH and quit the Noobcraft game .
1. Briad McQuaid
Telon is brought up from scratch by Braid . Now , who is Braid McQuaid ? If u recall the days of MUD to Ultima Online to Everquest I : Scars of Velious . He is the guy from 989 Studios before they merged to call themselves VERANT INTERACTIVE . fyi , Verant Interactive is now a subsidiary of Sony Online Entertainment . Braid sold EQ I to Verant , John Smeldley , the current CEO of $oE . John turn the MMO economy from a real world into a business deal , he ran the show to generate profits to drive the population . Braid left and set up SGO in 2001 ,
together with his original team of artist which brought u zones like Draconopolis , Emerald Jungles and Dreadlands to Kunark castle . SGO launched the production for VG:SOH back in 2002 with a back to back contract with Microsoft to seal their publishing rights to market the game. Braid and team make a last ditch swift move back in 2005 to turn publishing rights back to SoE , banking on their publishing strength and server prowess to host VG . This might seems a smart move , Smeldley is fishing out all the funds to Braid to have them have full control for the developement of the game up till 2011. Whereas , Mr Bill Gates was angst SGO not accepting VGSOH to be a flagship Windows Vista title . The back out has driven the SGO team to try to hit a Q1 07 launch date to meet Smeldley's commerical plan to hit the nail into Blizzard's monopoly for Burning crusade launch . The plan Braid has laid for VG will go all the way till 2 more expansions , spanding the zones wider , bigger without zone times , new format of combat , crafting , social economy , skills system and graphical enchancement .
2. Supported Unreal Graphics Engine
VG will support the infamous Unreal Graphic engine . It allows rendering using the latest vertex shader . It will be useful for VG to create a much empahsized and individualized look for each toons in the world which is lacking in current MMO .
3. Bards
Bards and bards . Selo's Song of Travel . The importance of bards that bring to a MMO . Any MMO that has Bards would mean a certain degree of hardcore ness in future endgame raids. Bards are so cool in VG. They dont do song twisting only . They dps and provide support to the team. As of Beta4 , bards are no doubt the best class soloers. Hopefully they wont get nerfed that hard. Im loving to roll a high elf bard . Veterans from EQ1 will remember swarm and quad kite . Yes . No restriction here ! VG will bring the good ole bard back to live ! Singasong!
